Sambhali Trust in January 2015

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2015 - January News!!

We are very excited to announce a new and exciting project underway within our Jodhpur Empowerment centre - a fully-equipped computer lab! It is through the generous donation of 22 laptops brought by our new volunteer, June Helderle, that this development has been enabled. June, an IT consultant in the United States, received the laptops from donors and has equipped them with an enormous data base of educational software from the NGO Khan Academy. This gift has not only provided the Trust with a versatile and easily-accessible platform for teaching subjects such as English and Math; but has also opened up an entirely new subject area of computer technology. Skills in this particular area will provide the participants of our programs increased access to different opportunities within today’s workforce.
In order to make these changes possible, we need to build the facilities in which the computers will be stationed. We have the prospect of creating a simple 10-laptop work station within our Jodhpur Empowerment Centre, comprised of a long desk, stools and suitable electrical ports. The total cost of this installment will be 30 000 Rupees. That’s 3000 Rupees per laptop. Or, in other words, $50 per laptop. With each laptop comes the opportunity to provide many women with the knowledge and skills to change the situation that they are in.
Our participants are nothing short of incredible - they are determined, strong and willing. They are the game-changers for the generations of women to come here in Rajasthan. We ask you to consider the impact that could be made with even the smallest donation to our Computer Lab Campaign.
