Students:
Babal is 12 years old and learns in the 6th Standard in school. She has got 3 brothers as well as 2 sisters. All ages of the family members are estimations as there is no documentation about the birth-dates in the village. Babal's oldest sister (22 years old) is married and lives in the house of their family in law. Her oldest brother (20 years old) lives in Mumbai and works there. He sends a part of his salary back home as the only source of income the family has.
Around 8 years ago Babal’s father died as he was an alcoholic and his organs diseased. In lifetime he ran a alcohol shop and made good money with that. Some savings from that better times are still left. He finished the 10th Standard in school and knew how to read and write. Her mother is an analphabet and originates from a village around 4 hours away from Setrawa. She is a housewife and works in the field. The family grows some vegetables on a field around the house for their own needs and keeps 3 goats.
Babal lives around 15 min walking distance away from school. After school she and her sister go to the well to get water to use for the family as they don’t have any water access in their home. Babal wants to be a police woman in a big city in the future.

Dear Friends, we have been awarded a certificate on behalf of the city administration of Jodhpur by The Divisional Commissioner Mr. Hemant Kumar Gera today on the 67th Indian Independence Day for empowering the Dalit women of today and tomorrow through Vocational training and Literacy. Thank you all for staying in this battle.
Conference in Jaipur:
Sambhali project Coordinator Ms. Manju Mehta went to Jaipur to attend "Child and Adolescent Rights in Rajasthan - A Critical Rights Agenda”. A CONFERENCE TO PROMOTE THE REALIZATION OF CHILD AND ADOLESCENT RIGHTS IN RAJASTHAN- on August 8th,... 2013
The following key issues regarding gaps in implementation of government policies and programs focused on child and adolescent protection at the state level were highlighted during the panels.
• Lack of convergence between the state government, central government, and civil society organizations
• Problems concerning the budgetary allocation of funds earmarked under the ICPS for services delivering care to vulnerable children and adolescents
• Need for a preventative rather than reactionary approach toward dealing with issues concerning child and adolescent protection and enforcement of rights
• Need to improve awareness of issues concerning child and adolescent protection and rights at all levels of society

Dear Friends of Sambhali, we would like to inform yourselves about the latest at the organization. We have finished our partnership with the Mehrangarh Museum Trust, Jodhpur on the 1st day of August 2013. The Sambhali Trust no longer operates an empowerment center for the Mehrangarh Fort staff ladies and we do not have the little stall at the Mehrangarh Museum Shopping area. Our products can be purchased from our boutique at the Killi Khana area of the old town (foot path to the fort from Clock Tower), from the students shop at Durag Niwas Guest House, directly from the sewing centers and by online orders.. Thank you for staying with us..

After the "No Bad Touch" workshop, the program was published in Local newspapers, a father read this and went to the venue of the workshop for inquiring about Sambhali Trust. He called us and found his way to us yesterday afternoon. His only child, a 12 year old girl was child abused by a man living next door to some relatives. There had been police case filed against this guy. The lawyer from the girl's side got bribed and unfortunately they lost the case after running around the court for two years. They came to us seeking help and find justice. We went to the District Collector of Jodhpur and to the Child Welfare Committee and we will do everything possible to reopen the case and get the man behind bars. We will do everything possible to help the girl and get her and her family justice and dignity.
